Not quite.)<br \/>\nRepublicans did not make a single gain in the Senate, House or Gubernatorial elections.  Check out the nifty maps <a href=http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/ref\/elections\/2006\/Senate.html>here<\/a>.  Heavy blue means a Democrat gain, heavy red means a Republican gain.  Except there isn&#8217;t any heavy red.<br \/>\nAs part of the world living in the shadow of US governmental decisions but unable to vote for &#8217;em, can I just say, cheers guys.  Good on yas.<br \/>\n&#8212;<br \/>\nAnd to think only a few years ago I was convinced there was no difference of note between Republicans and Democrats.  How naive I was, not then realising that the Republican party had actually been captured by a power centre that was both batshit insane and utterly ruthless.
