This week: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.slashfilm.com\/theodore-rex\/\">legendary weirdo flop Theodore Rex<\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/sports\/features\/space-jam-forever-the-website-that-wouldnt-die-20150819\">Space Jam website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>An NYT article has been circulating about how today&#8217;s creative class are no worse off even though no-one pays for anything any more. I wasn&#8217;t convinced by it; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.salon.com\/2015\/08\/24\/the_new_york_times_sells_out_artists_shallow_data_paints_a_too_rosy_picture_of_thriving_creative_class_in_the_digital_age\/\">Salon has a counterpoint that seems more compelling to me<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Short history of breaking the fourth wall:<br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/JLAaUvsKljc\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>This was probably inevitable: Kermit&#8217;s TED talk<br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"506\" height=\"285\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/zX7vQ2QB6Eo\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The AV Club has <a href=\"http:\/\/www.avclub.com\/article\/read-true-ethical-lessons-kobayashi-maru-test-star-224328\">a link to an analysis of a Star Trek leadership test<\/a>; they also embed the key movie scene it arises from.<\/p>\n<p>Upheaval continues in my home discipline and in science more generally thanks to a reappraisal of statistical methods and a deeper question about how we establish knowledge at all.
