When my classy older bro turned 30, he had a Logan’s Run theme party.
I, on the other hand, am marking the occasion the same way I did the last couple of years. I’d appreciate it very much if you would please throw a quote of some description into the comments section. It can be anything, from any source. Yes, you can make it up, or quote yourself. It can be a Bible verse or something someone said in a film or a knock knock joke. Anything. You don’t need to justify yourself. Give me some quotey goodness in the comments, please – I’m only gonna turn 30 once after all.
Mostly I just like to hear from people. The existence of good people in this world is something to be endlessly celebrated. Yay.
(And do it now. If you decide to come back later you might forget, and if you forget I’ll be a Sad Panda.)
(Lurkers who never comment are particularly invited to comment this time. You can do it anonymoosely.)
(Last year Chuck’s quote made him internet famous! Which is nice because he’s saying nice things about me on his blog. Read the last comment of last year’s post to see.)

Two quotes and a link, to round out my 10% effort in celebration of your 30th. None will achieve internet fame (sadly my 15milliseconds have passed) but I like them just the same.

“Never look a dive bomber in the face, Bill, cos if you do you can bet your sweet life things are going to hum soon, but pray and pray hard, and run, run like hell for the nearest ditches and dive into them. Me: (carelessy) Yes.
Monica: Why?
Me: Because I can.

“182 Eating Atmosphere
… we have already pointed out how vitally important all kinds of communal eating are in helping to maintain a bond among a group of people…; and we have given some idea of how the common eating may be placed as part of the kitchen itself…. This pattern gives some details of the eating atmosphere.
When people eat together, they may actually be together in spirit – or they may be far apart. Some rooms invite people to eat leisurely and comfortably and feel together, while others force people to eat as quickly as possible so they can go somewhere else to relax.
Above all, when the table has the same light all over it, and has the same light level on the walls around it, the light does nothing to hold people together; the intensity of feeling is quite likely to dissolve; there is little sense that there is any special kind of gathering. But when there is a soft light, hung low over the table, with dark walls around so that this one point of light lights up people’s faces and is a focal point for the whole group, then a meal can become a special thing indeed, a bond, communion.
Therefore:
Put a heavy table in the center of the eating space – large enough for the whole family or the group of people using it. Put a light over the table to create a pool of light over the group, and enclose the space with walls or with contrasting darkness. Make the space large enough so the chairs can be pulled back comfortably, and provide shelves and counters close at hand for things related to the meal.”

Happy Birthday!
The world is like a ride in an amusement park and when you choose to go on it you think it’s real, because that’s how powerful our minds are. And the ride goes up and down and around and around and it has thrills and chills and it’s very brightly coloured and it’s very loud. And it’s fun, for a while. Some people have been on the ride for a long time, and they begin to question, is this real, or is this just a ride? And other people have remembered, and they come back to us, and they say, “Hey, don’t worry, don’t be afraid, ever, because… this is just a ride.”

“Our great country is in a terrible downward spiral. We’re outsourcing jobs, bankrupting social security, and losing lives at war. We need to focus on what’s important– paying attention to our children, our citizens, our future. We need to think about improving our failing educational system, making better use of our resources, and helping to promote a stable, safe, and tolerant global society. It’s time to be smart about our politics. It’s time to get America back on track.”

Shihad- Get Up
one of my favourite quotes of all time came from some guy that cazza knows. it was said at that welsh bar at the end of courtenay place. i have forgotten this man’s name temporarily:
every text message is really saying “i want to sleep with you but am insecure about my body”.
i am looking up other quotes besides. i tried to find something insightful from bell hooks and this came up. it wasn’t what i expected but i’ll take it:
Love is an action, never simply a feeling.
then i looked up my other favourite feminist, winona ryder:
People think that they just want movies like Pretty Woman, when really they – at least the ones that I know personally – have been waiting for something that doesn’t completely insult them.
she’s wrong though. pretty woman didn’t insult me at all.
happy birthday again.
Proverbs: 3: 1-4, 13-18 & 21-35.
(You might recognise this from my wedding!)
It is one of my favourite passages:
“My son, do not forget my teaching, let your heart keep my principles, for these will give you lengthier days, longer years of life, and greater happiness. Let kindliness and loyalty never leave you; tie them round your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. So shall you enjoy favour and good repute in the sight of God and man.
“Happy the man who discovers wisdom, the man who gains discernement; gaining her is more rewarding than silver, more profitble than gold. She is beyond the price of pearls, nothing you could covert is her equal. In her right hand is length of days; in her left hand riches and honour. Her ways are delightful ways, her paths all lead to contentment. She is a tree of life for those who hold her fast, those who cling to her live happy lives.
“Do not refuse a kindness to anyone who begs it, if it is in your power to perform it. Do not say to your neightbour, ‘Go away! Come another time! I will give it to you tomorrow’, if you can do it now.
“Do not plot harm against your neighbour as he lives unsuspecting next door.
“Do not pick a groundless quarrel with a man who has done you no harm.
“Do not emulate the man of violence, never model your conduct on his; for the wilful wrong-dooer is abhorrent to God, who confides only in honest men.
“God’s curse lies on the house of the wicked, but he blesses the home of the virtuous. He mocks those who mock, but accords his favour to the humble.
“Honour is the portion of the wise, all that fools inherit is disgrace”
Happy Birthday Moose!
“We barely remember what came before this precious moment,
Choosing to be here right now. Hold on, stay inside…

Happy Birthday. Just don’t forget to “roll with your shit off safety!”

Did you see that thing about Jessica Simpson? Man she’s so dumb… what was it? She thought tuna was chicken of the sea… yeah, she didn’t know if it was chicken or fish! Ha, how could tuna be chicken! … Come to think of it, what is chicken? Cos, like it’s not a mammal…

Yay Birthday!
Also, from a Drama classmate today-
“I love you as a big as a camel, it’s the biggest of camels”
or
“I love you like a camel retains water”
I am not sure if this is my quote to give, but it comes from a former workmate’s friend describing his job in the public service:
“just another day as a flunky in the palace of lies”
Happy birthday too!

It may be a little belated, but there you go, I’m on the opposite side of the planet now, I have an excuse!

You’re right, I did forget to come back and actually leave a quote.
Well, here’s one from my Tuesday night roleplaying boyz:
“When the bananas start screaming, I’ll sneak around the back.” – Seraph.
and
“Stop trying to make ‘fetch’ happen. It’s not going to happen!!” – Regina George, Mean Girls.
and
“That is SO cockney!” – Debz, Queen of Bees.
I haven’t left a quote till now as I’ve been trying to think of the perfect one and realising that there isn’t, that sometimes the words fail and you are left with only the silence of friendship and that is all that is necessary; to be silent within one another.
Equally belated, but –
CROM!

only the second time I look at your blog and I find you have a birthday – and no quote crosses my mind – so this is what the other website is saying to me:
