  1. FYI some of your “hip cool rebels” links down the side don’t seem to be working properly any more – Matt C, Amanda, Warren, Dale, Kate and Fish. It seem to mainly be ones that follow a “/”. Also, when I tried to comment, your blog not only opened up a separate comments window, it also changed the main screen into a comments window. That normally doesn’t happen.
The price you pay for blacking out. Don’t mess with code that works!

  2. Yeah, I noted up the dead links, can’t be bothered fixing them just now – will do so tonight.
The comments thing is weird tho’. Hmmm.

  3. The thing that’s annoying me is how many people seem to be pitching this law as some kind of anti-freedom Labour thing, as though poor, righteous National are helpless to prevent this last evil communist nanny state plot of theirs from going through. Act claim to be the only party who believe in real freedom, what do they have to say on it?

  4. I did not know this was happening. What is going on over there? It’s not a land of freedom and beauty that people expect anymore. How is this happening? Have the scaremongers won and have the common people so scared that they want this?

  5. 2trees: you can relax a bit. The story here is, basically, vicious US copyright protectors getting their hooks into the thought processes of NZ decisionmakers. Pleasingly, the opposition to this law has been widespread and not split along party or left/right lines.
In fact, you can be cheered up a bit, because this is showing (again) that political decisionmaking in NZ is still forced to pay some heed to public disapproval. That’s a damn good thing.
