Just back from seeing Siobhann at the Ephelant House. Nice one, son! Happy chatter was had. I’m on a plane in a couple days! Eek! Exciting. Mum and Dad called to say hello as well, which was nice. And I got loads of writing done. I’m writing Ron longhand in these red notebook thingies, and I just came to the last page of book number 4. That’s page 720 or thereabouts. My rough estimate is 200 words a page. It’s getting exciting! And I need to walk away from it for a month to go travelling! Argh!
I have come to terms with the fact that I will not be able to vote in the UK election, despite being entitled to. I left it simply too late, and I’ll be off in the middle of nowhere until after polling day. Oh well. I don’t know who I’d vote for anyway. My hate of Tony Blair know no limit, but I’m still not quite sold on the Lib Dems. Hmm.
There is a Dalek on my desk at work that talks. It says things like ‘you will obey’. My boss gave it to me. ‘Exterminate the Doctor!”
Shout outs to: Muggle!
And to Karen and Nige for finally announcing the birth of their new dude!
And that’s all.

Morgue, from what I can see, Blair is not all bad. From what I can see, his government has done more for gay rights in the UK than all of the previous governments put together. The UK military is even out there now trying to get gay members. Of course this is all very ego-centric of me and I no more agree with the Iraq stance and selling out to the Americans, than you do, but do give credit where it is due.
Yeah, I’m not particularly anti-Labour. Although they buy into lots of toxic economic mythology, they’re pretty good on lots of social issues and show flashes of socialism now and then. But Blair fills me with revulsion.
As a personality perhaps (although he seems perfectly charismatic to me), but you can’t truly divorce the leader from the party under the Westminster system, can you? We’re not talking George or the late Johann here.
But that’s exactly the thing – one of the awful things about Blair is how far he has taken his leadership away from the old model, to the point that it really is him and his mates sitting around deciding policy, as if he was President not PM. Labour without Tony Blair would be a hugely different beast, not just the same beast with a different head.
Well then, we ((you), as I don’t live there) have Labour almost entirely to blame. The Westminster system shouldn’t really allow such developments (he has no mandate beyond his electorate and what the party gives him), so if it has occurred, then it is only because the majority of the party has allowed it to happen. It makes about as much sense as feeding a fastfood and TV diet and then wondering why they have weight problems.
That shold have been ‘giving a child a fastfood and TV diet’ of course.
Blair is a dangerous clown. The sooner we get shot of him the better.
He wants a place in history, presumably as one of our greatest leaders. I am sure history will judge him in a far harsher light. He has abused Parliament and the Civil Service to an obscene degree. And at times he has been bordering on mad.
I think he is one of the most hated political figures in Scotland, and that includes by traditional Labourites.
I shall be trying to get him out. But as ever it will be in the hands of middle England, and I don’t think they’ll give him the chop.
But I don’t want another 5 years of Bliar.
That should have been ‘giving a child a fastfood and TV diet’ of course.
