Lamest. Scandal. Evar.

I mean, really, isn’t this the most inane scandal you could imagine?
ITV rigged the outcome of its call-in 2005 People’s Choice comedy award so Robbie Williams would be able to give an award to his mates Ant and Dec.
This is sad on so many levels it makes my head swim when I try to count them.
I mean, it’s clearly scandalous – those call-in votes cost money. But… but… Robbie Williams! Ant and Dec! People’s Choice Awards! ITV! THIS IS A STUPID SCANDAL!

    But yet I was not aware of it, not in the least, until you mentioned it here.
    Which raises the question; if it so lame, why waste any time, effort, and bandwith blogging about it?

  4. who/how/where/when did tilde-m come into being? you sure your not Welly’s answer to prince or something?

  5. tilde. I have been wracking my brains and I do not know. I think it was because I adopted lower case but felt I needed some typographical signifier that this was my name – bald lower case didn’t quite look right.
    It definitely originated on NZ keyboard layouts, where ~ and ` are both on the same key in the upper left, so it is simple to type ~`
    I think the shortening to ~ happened when I was in Scotland. It’s back to ~` almost exclusively now, but I still answer to ~m.
    A girl I know used to always sign off ~hername~ and when I asked her about the tildes she said they were her wings. I thought that was cute.
