  1. I just don’t see it working with a kid as young as Jaden is.
Plus did you see that Zac Efron is going to be in a Footloose remake?

  2. I love Jackie Chan as the Mr Miyagi character.
It would be even cooler if the karate he teaches the kid is drunken boxing. Yeah. Making the movie about a 10 year old kid who has to get drunk to do his karate would be an awesome spin on the old tale ;-). Not very PC, but it’s be amusing to see them try and get it to fly.

  3. So the characters, actors, location, and story are totally different, and its not even karate anymore if its set in China. This may be greatest abuse of a film property since Highlander 2.
They can never recapture the magic of Karate Kid again anyway; goofy Ralph Macchio, the best villain ever created, “put him in a bodybag, yeahh!!!” It ages like a fine wine.

  4. The Karate Kid was just a Rocky clone for teenagers anyway. Same director and everything. Rocky was better though – especially the ending.

  5. If it’s set in China it can still be karate. The original was set in the US, and it was still karate. Both China and the US practice karate. It’s indigenous to neither, but the Chinese are just as entitled to import it as the Americans.

  6. Bruce Lee fought a karate master in Game of Death, and kicked his motherfcuking ass. I think that tells you all you need to know about karate in China.
