Associated Press headline: Israel Widens Control of Southern Lebanon
Article content: Israel bombs a UN outpost, killing at least two UN observers, in a strike Kofi Annan calls “apparently deliberate”.
Hmm.
(Do note that AP followed up half an hour later with a more detailed account, headlined 2 Dead, 2 Missing After U.N. Post Hit. That doesn’t make the first headline any less bizarre.)
[EDIT: de-linked the articles. The Newsday wire uses a dynamic structure so the links don’t go to the articles any more, and I can’t even find them archived. Does anyone know an online source for the raw AP wirefeed that keeps archives alive? A bunch of times I’ve gone looking for one, and never yet found one.]

  1. Fucking Israel.
I just can’t believe that nobody is doing anything. Everyone’s just sitting back and letting Israel keep blowing the crap out of Lebanon. Oh, sorry, “diplomatic efforts” are being made. Basmati Rice went and spoke to each of the leaders, and told them they were being bad. Now she’s off in Europe talking to leaders there, trying to get them to step in. Blah blah blah DO SOMETHING. Don’t get me wrong, I believe in diplomacy, but people are still dying, and no/limited action has been taken to save them.
    I am angry.

  2. Hey Morgue, both those links go to the same place and neither seems to be what you’ve described them as.

  3. Googling the inverted commas title is fairly effective (in both cases). Not sure about the AP archive per se.
