I am now too tired even to link to someone. Been working hard for hours. No netball tonight took the wind out of my sails. I think. For some reason I thought we had signed up to 1 gig/week broadband, but actually it was 1 gig/month, so we blew our cap two weeks into our broadband usage, ha ha. Go click on one of the links in my blogroll and read that instead of this. I swear there have been some great posts by people lately but I can’t handle sorting them out. But still I must blog. Do you know why? It is so I have a blog post each weekday so the little calendar up in the top of my sidebar lights up all the numbers without any gaps. I need the lights all in a row. It is like an addiction. I think I will dream of a red BMX.
Sleep now.

I’m still bugged on how he did the guessing how much money people had in their wallets thing. Why, why wouldn’t he tell us?? Or is it really obvious and sleep deprivation has utterly eroded my critical faculties?
(It’s your fault I watched it in the first place, you know.)
I knew the bike would be red – I got that from the decor but I still can’t see how touching the guy’s arm and saying “…BM, or Xbox…” and so on, could make him want it to the exclusion of the leather jacket. Wierd.
I know he’s also a hypnotist, so he’s probably also hypnotising them, but how the hell does he put that guy in a trance with only a touch and a look? He should use it to pick up chicks… haha!
More research required. I hope I don’t have any late netball games in the coming weeks.
The money in wallets thing, I reckon, isn’t psychology – it’s some other kind of stage magic. No idea what kind. Now and then I check in on magician hobbyists who write about Derren and they’re all “that was a neat execution, I knew how he did most of it but then there were two bits I couldn’t figure out at all” and so on. Without giving the slightest clue for those of us not in on it.
Which pleases me. I like the fact that you can’t just google for this stuff.
The red BMX thing is intensive Neuro-Linguistic Programming stuff. Essentially, you do something to bump a person’s mind off the rails and they become very suggestible as they try and sort themselves out, and if you take that suggestibility and run with it you can end up doing this sort of trick. That weird handshake right at the start was all it took to get Simon Pegg off the rails and Derren is a master at working it from there. The touching is really important. But I don’t know enough to explain better than that.
Funnily enough, Billy was just telling me about the red BMX on Saturday and then I see it on Monday, so I was watching closely to see how he did it.
I still don’t know what he did but he can touch *me* anytime. 🙂
