Honest Linky

  1. Re: the Chuck Wendig link: Every time I read an article about sexism and misogyny in geek culture (gaming, SF/fantasy, whatever) and start link-clicking, I feel like I’m getting sucked into a relentless whirlpool of hate. Some people are just disgusting.

  2. The steak one is interesting, but reveals some interesting cultural assumptions: their definition of “thinner” steak is under an inch thick.

  3. Pearce: I agree. I think (hope) that we are in the middle of a nasty but necessary flushing out of this nastiness, and when the process is finished such folk will be forever consigned to the margins. But every time I look at something like this (and, even more, the reactions to it) it seems there’s further and further to go.

Jack: FIRST GET YER STEAK. MAKE SURE IT IS THICK AS THE BUMPER ON YOUR CAR. ANY LESS THAN THAT YOU ARE 100% GAY, PRETTY SURE JESUS SAID THAT.

  4. That Seinfeld theme’s pretty decent compared to the wake of things that went down after the Bieber one. I guess the original’s so fast and staccato, it gives it heaps more breathing space than if you did a full pop song.

  5. The great art in ugly rooms concept will be my very first global ‘hack’. The one when I’m über wealthy, and can’t help but pull some gibsonesque tomfoolery. I can imagine paying Chinese hackers to crack google glasses (or the current incarnation) for the only purpose of superimposing good art on someone’s visual stream…

  6. Chuck: oh yeah, man, I think there’s gonna be some fine tomfoolery when augmented reality gets fully mainstreamed through google glasses-type stuff. Probably a huge amount of craziness too, but the prankery will be highly interesting!
