  2. Salon runs ads before giving access, and some are much more intrusive than others…

    Yep, this is a case in point. There’s a little “Enter Salon” link up the very top of the page, click on that and you get to the article.
    Thanks for the heads-up. Most of the time it just shows you a picture of a car and then cycles on to the story by itself.

  3. And in fact, it loses the specific article link after the ad, just going to the general page. But now it’s given you a cookie saying you’ve seen the ad, so if you click the original link again it delivers you to the right page.
    I love Salon, but it can be a nuisance to share its articles. Still, at least it makes enough money to survive!

  6. Jenni: this is why I need to make a followup post. Because I *really enjoyed* Cloverfield. My relationship to the movie is multilayered 🙂
