So I got an email from a dude from Radio 4. He wants to record some Dungeons and Dragons gaming for a doco on the 30th anniversary of D&D.
Cool.
More news if and when there is any more news.

I heard about this documentary. Good luck with the recording. You have a great responsibility in showing the beauty that is RPGing. I expect:
– boxed text
– strange lucky dice rituals
– looting of dead bodies
– rules arguments
– miniature use (this will have to involve lead minis so they can be heard on the recording
🙂
When I was at Otago some Drama students had to do some study on a community drama thing and they chose RPG and came to a tournament and interviewed a bunch of us (including me). Then they made a performance out of what they had. It included worshiping a giant D4 which the GM climbed out of and injections with giant needles of Coca Cola. Also as they only interviewed 2 female RPrs and the other one hadn’t been playing long and I had funnier anecdotes, my RPG background was shared between 3 different female performers. It was all very strange. But the RPrs that went to watch got to take home the huge D4 so people were happy.
Luke – you heard about this? Where? Huh? Huh?
Giffy – a giant d4? Say what?
hee.
It is wrong for giffy to bring up such giant dice nonesense. My inner munchkin has stuck upon the image of Marilyn Monroe popping out of a D30 (I had one of those once – stupid bloody thing that never seemed to stop rolling) and singing “Happy birthday to you…”
Yay for BBC Radio interviews with the ~m. Keep us posted of the documentary airing. Is Radio 4 syndicated over the net? How do we here in NZ get to hear of your sultry RPG sageness?
The broadcast will be available on the net.
I think it’ll just be the gaming he wants – no interviews or anything. He’ll go to industry folk for that, I guess.
And in possibly related news, Vin Diesel has been asked to write the intro to the 30th Anniversary Edition of (one of) the [A?]D+D rulebooks.
Yeah, that’s interesting – they’ve been promising ‘celebrity sidebars’ in the 30th Anniversary book (its a coffee table ‘celebration’ rather than a rulebook) and Vin is the first concrete name attached. But then Vin kept ranting about how he wanted Judi Dench in his game during interviews for Riddick.
I’m wondering who else they get – will they be getting Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Robin Williams, Kevin Smith, people of that calibre? Or are we talking Lou Ferrigno, Lexa Doig and Kurt Busiek level celebrity here?
This is how you listen to radio 4 – it’s notlive and the link only works for the day, but you probably save it.

Giffy, I heard about it on RPGnet.
