Cal and I are going to have a holiday on a beach in Phuket. (According to google, the picture above shows the specific beach we’re at.)
It’s all sorted – over a week of chilling out and doing nothing much at all. I’ve never spent more than a couple days chilling out and doing nothing much at all, I don’t know if I’ll be able to cope.
I guess this is our honeymoon. Choice.
We fly out October 10th. Looking forward to some good monsoon action!

Surely there are walks you can do and places and things to see? Or is that against the rules?
tips for success when in phuket – if it isn’t lying in the sun, swimming, reading the-most-crappy-novel-you-have or eating any of the delicious thai treats then DON’T DO IT!
I’ll see if I can find the Thai phrase book and drop it off to you when I come to Welly in September. Oh wait that is this month! You guys around from 28-30th?
Karen: heh, yeah, we’ll do lotsa stuff I’m sure. But the goal is Chuck-style relaxomundo.
Chuck: cool, yeah we’re around, just drive around the city and wave out your car window when you spot us, 35% chance we’ll notice you…
I also have thai phrasebook you can borrow. Also have an older lonely planet guide if you want to have a look. Could get Beau to drop it off at your place after work one day this week? He’s in your neighbourhood after all.
Massages and spa type stuff is often a good deal. You may also be able to get some snorkelling in. We did that in Krabi anyway. Phuket is not a number 1 Thailand choice for me, kinda like Queenstown in NZ, I’d rather go to Wanaka, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t good.
I also forgot to say, there will def be english language books available at bookstores in phuket and they will be the same price (sometimes a bit cheaper) as in NZ, so if you are looking to mindlessly read bestsellers, don’t worry about stocking up in NZ, you will be able to get them there.
